This person will report directly to the Technical Director. Activities will center around product development and process improvement.
Job Description
· Carry out emulsion polymerization reactions in a lab scale apparatus and scaleup to the 350-gallon pilot reactor.
· Conduct experiments, tests, and analyses under the direction of chemists.
· Communicate in a timely manner with team members and other departments.
· Complete assigned tasks with only general supervision.
Duties
· Perform experimental setups, troubleshooting, and analytical sampling and testing, and subsequent presentation of conclusions and recommendations.
Perform routine analysis (DSC, FTIR, GC) to support production and development research.
· Compile and interpret results and issue reports as needed.
· Operate, calibrate, maintain, and service lab equipment.
· Support the installation, start-up, and operation of new equipment as needed.
· Assist in the development of new test methods and procedures.
· Support the QC lab as needed with testing samples received from production.
Skills and Qualifications
· Has a Bachelor's Degree or higher in chemistry, science or engineering
Previous experience from a related field or lab experience is acceptable
· Possess familiarity with MS Office Software.
· Has strong observation and critical thinking skills.
· Exhibit effective verbal and written communications skills.
· Demonstrate multitasking and exceptional time management skills.
· Possess the knowledge, skills, and experience to safely handle chemicals.
· Has ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as is required by the operating areas (i.e. safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection and at times, a respirator)
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Relocation fees are not paid for this current position.
