Lead Triage Specialist
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm, this may include evenings and weekends, along with on-call response.
- Location: 11949 Q St, housed within Project Harmony.
- Salary: $42,000+
Job Purpose:
Provides coordination of the Triage Center, which serves children and adolescents with safety and placement needs. The position also provides task supervision and accountability to staff.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide on-site coordination of program activities and collaboration with Project Harmony, Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and CSI staff.
- Supervise and care for children/adolescents awaiting placement or otherwise in need of Triage Center services.
- Advocate for the best interests of children served, especially regarding placement decisions. Assist with gathering information to assess the safety and permanency needs of each child/youth and communicate with law enforcement and Child Protective Services personnel.
- Complete required documentation of client and program activities.
- Facilitate positive transitions into out-of-home placements.
- Organize, clean, and assist in the daily maintenance of the Triage Center.
Other Duties:
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- Complete training necessary to perform position and necessary for professional growth.
- Work in partnership with Project Harmony, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and law enforcement personnel.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
- Experience serving children/adolescents in out-of-home placement preferred.
- Ability to provide on-call coverage.
- Knowledge and skills in the needs of neglected, abused, and exploited children; family functioning ; child development; child welfare issues and services; and advocating for families and children.
- Ability to work autonomously and make appropriate decisions in crisis situations.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Vehicle Requirements:
- Own transportation that meets agency vehicle inspection requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with no more than three points.
- Proof of insurance that meets agency requirements.
- Completion of a defensive driver training class.
Environment:
- Majority of work is at the Triage Center at Project Harmony.
- Hours/schedule will vary and include on-call response and evening and weekend hours.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to provide hands-on caregiving, including to infants and small children.
- Ability to type and perform other office skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty-five pounds.
