Description:
Position Summary: The Lead Bartender is responsible for providing prompt and courteous service to all bar guests, including taking orders, suggestive selling, preparing and serving beverages, and clearing tables. The Lead Bartender is also expected to maintain the standard of service Gravitas guests will expect and hold the rest of the bar team to that same standard. The Lead Bartender may also be asked for their input in the beverage program to keep Gravitas on trend in the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Sit in with management and observe preliminary interviews for open bar positions.

Perform monthly inventories of bar product and monitor bar beverage pars to ensure efficient use of products.

Assist in development of new offerings for the cocktail program to keep the bar on trend.

Assist with training of the bar team and other sales staff, under the direction of management.

Maintain high standards of service and encourage the rest of the bar team to do the same.

Encourage teamwork and communication between bartenders and the rest of the service teams.

Ensure standardization and consistent beverage preparation, presentation, and quality.

Be thoroughly familiar with all menu cocktails and wine list to assist guests and answer questions accurately.

Complete bar requisitions thoroughly and with business levels in mind.

Ensure sequence of service is followed for all guests.

Greet guests, take beverage orders, and suggestive sell.

Prepare drinks to recipe standard.

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service laws and regulations.

Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for co-workers and guests.

Resolve guest complaints using property procedures and elevate concerns to management as needed.

Communicate with supervisors and managers to ensure that assigned duties are completed to standard.

Review and develop guest history records to enhance personalized service for repeat guests.

Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information.

Requirements:
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time.

Must be able to bend and lift up to 40 lbs.

Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motions.

Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.

Must be able to prepare bar garnishes safely and properly.
Skills/Experience:
-
At least 4+ years of experience working as a bartender in fine dining and/or high volume bars. Experience at a membership-based company a plus.

Ability to effectively lead and communicate with a team.

Comprehensive knowledge of wines, beer, and liquor. Continuing education in wines or beer a plus.

Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Adobe, and Canva.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
-
Must have valid, non-expired Food Handlers’ and Responsible Beverage Service cards.
