NorTex Spine & Joint Institute is seeking a highly motivated, energetic Medical Assistant in an innovative, fast-paced, efficient, and rapidly growing medical practice.

The right candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate exceptional multi-tasking abilities in various patient encounters. The role is for a front office coordinator/medical assistant. You will be expected to assist in back-office duties such as rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and possibly obtaining blood and urine samples from our patients.
We are looking for a candidate who will accept challenges, is open to learning, and is receptive to instructions to improve—punctuality and putting in 100% while at work are necessary.
Responsibilities
- Answering a multi-line phone system and handling patient calls as appropriate.
- Scheduling and confirming patient appointments.
- Completing the New Patient Registration process and assisting patients doing this electronically.
- Greeting patients/checking-in and checking-out patients.
- Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits with health plans before the patients arrive.
- Obtaining referrals, precertification/pre-authorizations, as required.
- Collecting co-payments, coinsurances, balances, etc. at or prior to service.
- Scanning and sorting medical records in the AdvancedMD EMR.
- Managing fax inbox(es), both in EHR and standard fax.
- Communicating and collaborating with other health team members.
- Cross-training with other team-members, at the discretion of the office manager
- Completing and submitting accurate End-of-Day Reconciliation
- Assisting in relationship management with referring physician offices.
- Assisting in procedures in the surgery center with patient positioning and transfer from and to the procedure table from the stretcher.
- Assisting the physician with performing the injections and operations.
- Assisting with mobile fluoroscope (C-Arm) during procedures.
- All other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager and/or Physician.
Qualifications and Skills
- Preferred but not required 1 year of proven medical office/medical assisting experience in a physician practice.
- Excellent typing and documentation skills.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office Word, Excel.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $22.00 to $28.00 /hour depending on experience
