POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Schools Manager will support the implementation and success of a community-school model at Promesa K-12 schools in Boyle Heights. To achieve this, the Community Schools Manager will serve as a steward of the Promesa community school model by supporting and supervising the Promesa Community School Coordinator team by building strong collaborative relationships within the team, designing and facilitating professional development and training, guiding data-analysis processes, planning and facilitating team meetings, and conducting biweekly check-in and coaching meetings with each Community School Coordinator. The Community Schools Manager will also work closely with the school administrators and teacher leaders to ensure the mission, vision and practices of the school are aligned to that of the Promesa community school model. In addition, the Community Schools Manager will be responsible for developing and sustaining community partnerships and networks, cultivating leadership among community residents, engaging with parents and families and building student relationships. The Community Schools Manager will report to the Director of Community Schools, school principals and the Promesa Boyle Heights Steering Committee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Management
● Serve as a steward of the Promesa community school model by continuously providing training to community school coordinators and partners when necessary.
● Assess needs and gaps in the schools and help leverage partnerships, systems and resources to address academic and wellness gaps in the school and community.
● Build and maintain working relationships with a wide-range of partners, including youth, parents, educators, community partners, and institutional leaders.
● Support community school coordinators in facilitating community partner meetings and ensure ongoing communication and progress towards shared goals.
● Develop and manage operating plans, timeline and delegation of tasks for key initiatives, such as literacy spark projects, family engagement efforts, school climate endeavors, and more.
● Work collaboratively with the Postsecondary Success Manager to develop and implement structures and programming to support college and career readiness practices at community schools.
● Develop systems and tools for school partners to effectively support the academic and wellness goals of community schools as written in their Single School Plan for Student Achievement (SSPSA), Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation plans (high schools only)
● Work closely with the Director of Community Schools and Director of Continuous Improvement to monitor the progress and implementation of the community school model at each community school site.
● Help lead and support Steering Committee and General Assembly meetings and communication throughout the year.
Leadership Development
● Support the leadership capacity and empowerment of community residents, parents and students in collaboration with community school coordinators and partners.
● Assist in planning Promesa wide retreats and staff development sessions.
● Develop and help implement training curriculum and tools to build leadership of individuals and our collective capacity to participate and lead campaigns and initiatives that expand access and opportunity to academic and wellness resources.
Supervision
● Plan and facilitate biweekly community school coordinator check-in and coaching meetings.
● Plan and facilitate biweekly community school team meetings.
● Conduct 360 annual evaluations of Community School Coordinators and facilitate mid-year and end-of-year evaluation reflective conversations.
● Co-develop yearly professional growth goals with each community school coordinator and provide the necessary support and resources to ensure the success of each community school coordinator in reaching these goals.
● Develop a yearly professional development plan for the community school coordinator team.
● Guide the recruitment and hiring of new community school coordinators in collaboration with the Director of Community Schools and general Promesa team members.
● Onboard and coach new community school coordinators.
Basic Qualifications
● A minimum of 3 years of experience in program management in the field of K-12 education or higher education, with specific experience supporting college and career access, preparation, matriculation, retention and overall postsecondary planning and success (other comparable program management work experience will be considered)
● Experience supervising and leading a team
● Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
● Knowledge of college retention and persistence strategies, career-planning and-building, youth leadership development
● Ability to analyze data and use data to drive decision making
● Strong adaptive leadership abilities including an encouraging, motivating presence to help with conflict management, team building, goal-setting, prioritization and strategic planning
● Experience guiding, leading and implementation of a strategic plan vision
● Experience in developing and sustaining partnerships
● Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
● Bilingual (English, Spanish) proficiency

● Experience managing dynamic projects and working with ethnically and racially diverse populations
● Must be computer literate and have experience working with Microsoft Office, Google Work Space, data analysis software, and social media platforms
● Able to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends
● Licensed driver with reliable transportation and ability to meet organization’s minimum auto insurance requirements or must be willing to travel to work location and school sites when needed.
● Interested in someone that can start immediately and can commit to the position for at least two years
