PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reviews, evaluates, and rates insurance applications. Determines eligibility of risks when compared to guidelines of programs available. Evaluates the degree of risk involved and determine appropriate course(s) of action.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use available data to make decisions on individual risks submitted as new business within underwriting authority
- Reviews requests for cancellation, endorsements, reinstatements, etc.
- Reviews inspections for eligibility
- Underwrite renewal risks and make non-renewal decisions as necessary
- Requests additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement or cancellation
- Build, maintain, and manage successful producer relationships to achieve new business development and retention
- Provide support to agents as they use policy processing systems and underwriting guidelines to quote, issue and service business
- Provide customer service to agents at a level that is consistent with company values
- First responder to agency contact
- Effectively collaborate within the Underwriting, Operations, Product Management, Claims, and Sales teams
- Handle special projects and other related assignments as assigned
- Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others to ensure understanding of policy processing systems, underwriting guidelines, products and coverages
- Maintains the integrity of the company and products offered by complying with federal and state regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Actively work to improve ease of doing business & eliminate obstacles to doing business with the company
- Use discretion and independent judgment to make decisions and resolve operational issues
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, SPECIAL SKILLS PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
Describe specific requirements:
- 1 – 2 years’ experience policy level underwriting and agency service within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry, preferably personal lines property
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs required.
- Demonstrated customer service focus / superior customer service skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Results driven with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; meet deadlines and manage changing priorities effectively.
