This position will serve a large student population at Norfolk State University, and encompasses the teaching of General Education courses and discipline-specific courses that are supportable by faculty credentials. Ph.D. in English, English Studies, American Studies, or closely related field is required.
The General Education courses can include: Freshman Composition and Public Speaking; discipline-specific courses such as Early American Literature or others are also included in the position’s teaching duties. The role requires office hours and engaging students for campus assessment activities such as the HEIGHTEN Test and QEP. Use of Blackboard, the Learning Management System for Norfolk State University, is required. Committee work for the ENFL Department is welcome but not required.
This position will also require one submission, between Fall and Spring semesters, of a small portfolio of supporting documents about classroom content and techniques. This position is also eligible for grant-funded participation in the teaching of specialized General Education courses.
