Position: Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP) Manager

Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. RFS is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote the quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate, and empower individuals and their families.
POSITION SUMMARY: The major function of the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program Manager is to manage the implementation of RFS’s contracts for violence prevention programs.
RESPONSIBILITY: Under the Director of Programs' supervision, the person in this role is responsible for supervising the VIPP team. Ensure program compliance and be the liaison between Rincon Family Services and the funding sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Violence Intervention and Prevention Program Manager must demonstrate the ability to perform the following:
- Be available to the VIPP staff on a 24/7 basis.
- Respond immediately to CPICs, notifications of a shooting and insure documentation of the event.

Coordinate development and application of community needs assessment with the
Department and community stakeholders.

Assist in assessment of the needs of our clients in the VIPP program.

Work in conjunction with VIPP program members to determine evidence-based practice that
best fits need assessment outcomes.

Meet deadlines and disseminate data to funders, as applicable or as needed.

Attending scheduled meetings with funding sources, conferences and coalitions, and professional development training.

Gather and report data to the VIPP Program.
- Ensure and promote linguistic and cultural competence.

Conduct outreach to establish and maintain relationships with appropriate referral sources.

Provide leadership, presentations, and collaboration with community partners to provide information and strategies regarding violence prevention.
- Ensure accuracy of all client data, reports and safeguarding of important client documentation.

Aggregate and formulate necessary data to complete monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for
funding sources with adherence to reporting guidelines.
- Track and report program outcome measures.

Execute, prepare, and monitor program budgets.
- Work in conjunction with supervisors and grants administrators to effectively complete program grant requirements.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly group meetings for program participants.

Ensure provision of program resources (books, pamphlets, videos, etc.) on topics related to
Violence Intervention and Prevention.
- Keeping informed of trends and best practices related to program and population served.

Organizing, conducting and leading VIPP’s staff meetings and maintaining records of them.

Participate in regular supervision from the Director of Programs, weekly or as indicated by manager, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary.

Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The Violence Prevention and Intervention Manager must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job including carry charts to and from their offices/desks, prepare for group activities that may entail moving chairs and/or tables, carrying bags/boxes of food or decorating group activity areas. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There may be occasions that call for an employee to carry out duties at other agency offices. Traveling to and from meetings is required. Frequent local and in-state travel required. Some out-of-state travel required for training.
Annual Trainings:
As part of the organization's commitment for quality service all staff have to complete the following trainings yearly, but other trainings will be scheduled based on the program or funding requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Case Manager must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services strongly preferred.

3-5 years of violence prevention and intervention programing.

2-3 years of supervisory experience.

As evidenced by previous work experience, academic background, and in-service or other training, the BHC shall demonstrate a strong understanding of how to:
- Identify precipitating events.

Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects.

Must be able to climb stairs several times a day.
