Description: Licensed Social Worker, LMSW, Bilingual Spanish. Conducts social work assessments. Works with the principal and team in providing assistance to students and outreach to families.
Essential Functions
- Prepare a comprehensive social history report for students being evaluated; parent interview
- Review with families evaluation outcome summaries, help families prepare for Initial Review meetings with district, explain to parent rights
- Participate in CPSE Initial Review meetings with designated districts during which a child's IEP is formulated and school placement is determined
- Work with agencies in the community and refer families and students to such agencies when appropriate
- Conduct classroom observations when necessary
- Provide individual counseling if mandated on students IEP
- Facilitate weekly parent support groups for all families in our school
- Interview families to assess any problems that may affect their child's school transition
- Maintain an ongoing relationship with parents while their child attends our school
- Tour prospective families and students. Assist families with collection of documents needed for enrollment
- Coordinate turning 5 information for school staff
- Help parents navigate through turning 5 process e.g. help with Kindergarten applications, communications with school assessment teams, contact districts with any issues arise, etc.
- Participate in turning 5 meetings with CSE
- Assist teachers and other school staff with special cases as referred by Program Director
- Provide classroom coverage when necessary
- Provide families with information regarding Pre-K for All and assist with applications, registration and enrollment
- Participate in Pyramid Model Meetings
- Provide monthly classroom social skills lesson
- Participate in bimonthly outcome monitoring meetings
- Provide monthly parent counseling as per IEP/maintain log and file at the end of the school year (June/August)
- Assist during school wide family engagement activities (Open House, Orientation, etc.)
- Assist with written translation of school documents
- Attend monthly meeting with Nurse and Program Director
- Participate in mandated reporter training and make referrals to State Central Registrar when appropriate
- Provide training during professional development as needed

- Bilingual Spanish
- Master's Degree
- Minimum 1 year experience in Social Work
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Special Education
- LMSW
