This individual will be responsible for billing to payers. Work is performed with considerable independence in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures in a coordinated effort with the Billing Supervisor. The individual must be crossed trained in billing and producing reports as they relate to an outpatient facility. This individual participates with other employees in admissions and inpatient referral activities. This job position is currently hybrid (3 days in the office).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for weekly and monthly billing of services rendered for all clients to all payors including Medicaid, Private Insurance, and State & County funders.
Prepares and submits appropriate billing reports to the Finance Department on a regular basis.
- Verification of Benefits as requested for patients
- Manage billing activity in Microsoft Excel
Reviews, assesses, and evaluates all billing errors; working denials and older Accounts Receivable
Serve as an emergency back up to the front desk receptionist
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
Minimum one (2) year of prior billing experience working in a medical office setting is required. Experience in an Addictions environment helpful, but not required.
Experience billing Private Insurance and Managed Care Organizations a plus. Insurance credentialing experience a plus.
Must have excellent customer service skills with staff and patients. Ability to express oneself clearly to both staff and patients in a professional manner.
Excellent phone etiquette, verbal communication, and listening skills is required.
- Must be detail oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy with documentation. Familiar with computers, general software programs, and Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and strong working relationships with patients, members of staff, outside agencies, institutions and the general public.
Must have good conflict resolution skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations, as needed.
May need to provide flexibility on occasion with scheduling of shifts to assist with coverage.
