Music Teacher Position
Music Teacher
Join an innovative educational environment that supports students as creative, collaborative critical thinkers, citizens and individuals.
Oak Farm Montessori School is an infant through high school program with the mission to “provide a Montessori environment that inspires children to reach their potential through meaningful work”.
We are seeking a candidate for either a part-time (25.5 hours/week) or a full time (32 hours/ week) Music Teacher. If part-time, this teacher will work with students in primary through upper elementary. If full time, this teacher will also work with our middle and high school students. Each class consists of multi ages (3-6 year olds, 1st-3rd grade, 4th-6th grade, 7th-8th grade, 9th-12th grade) with approximately 20 to 24 students. The primary class is done within the primary environments so the classroom teachers are also present.
Commended for our commitment to the Montessori philosophy and the creation of child-centered environments and for our spirit of trust and collaboration within the entire school community, we offer an exciting, supportive work environment with professional development opportunities.
(OFMS) engages teachers who reach for excellence as lifelong learners, in leadership, in emotional literacy and in the practice of citizenship; both in themselves and in their students.
The School environment blends the peace and quiet of a pastoral countryside with easy access to the offerings of a larger city. OFMS is situated on 150+ acres of partially wooded land on the edge of small town Avilla, near Fort Wayne, Indiana. We are dually accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS).
Candidates for this position should possess a Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field. Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred. An understanding of Montessori principles or willingness to learn about them is beneficial. We are seeking individuals demonstrating a track record of strong collaboration, communication, compassion and competence in working with children within a child-centered philosophy. Good instincts with safety, supervision, time management and teaching responsibility are desirable. A great candidate should be a lifelong learner with a drive to inspire children and be inspired.
Please send resume and letter of interest to Allena Knepper, Human Resources Director . We are currently accepting applications and interviewing candidates for the 2024-2025 school year.
