Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a Dental Hygienist, you will work closely with our dentists to provide exceptional oral care to our patients. Your main responsibilities will include performing dental cleanings, educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices, and assisting with various dental procedures.
Duties:
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including removing plaque and tartar buildup
- Take dental x-rays and perform other medical imaging procedures as needed
- Assist dentists during dental procedures, including preparing instruments and materials
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and provide personalized recommendations for maintaining oral health
- Administer local anesthesia and apply fluoride treatments as directed by the dentist
- Conduct screenings for oral diseases and abnormalities
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using electronic medical documentation systems such as Epic
- Adhere to strict infection control protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in dental technology, infection control guidelines, and industry best practices
Qualifications:
- Valid state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, medical terminology, and dental procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic medical documentation systems such as Epic
- Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients of all ages and backgrounds
- Familiarity with medical coding and billing procedures is a plus
- Basic understanding of vital signs and ability to record them accurately
