POSITION SUMMARY:
Servers are in charge and responsible for the control of several tables and all necessary side work, while maximizing the prompt efficiency of food & beverage service and ensuring guest satisfaction according to Torisoba Tonsho standards. A friendly, positive, and courteous attitude toward customers is necessary.
Kitchen Staff are responsible for performing any combination of duties that would maintain the kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment and utensils in a clean and orderly condition. The common task of the kitchen staff involves actual cooking and food preparation.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the flow of guests by taking reservations, assigning tables, and ensuring efficient seating.
- Learn how to calculate and provide accurate wait times and keep guests informed of the status of their table.
- Greeting and welcoming guests. Assist in seating guests and providing them with menus.
- Check ID to ensure minimum age requirement is met when serving alcoholic beverages.
- Communicate any specials or promotions.
- Explain menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to guests. Ask about food allergies.
- Answer any questions regarding the menu, including allergies or special requests.
- Make recommendations based on guests' preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders from guests and enter them into the POS system.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, ensuring accuracy and good presentation, and timed so the entire table is served within a reasonable time frame.
- Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and address requests/concerns.
- Refill drinks, clear plates, and reset tables to maintain a clean and organized dining area.
- Present bills to guests and handle payment transactions accurately and quickly.
- Prepare food items for the daily menu which includes cutting or chopping or peeling using edged tool, sorting, and washing.
- Cook with various culinary techniques, such as deep frying, broiling, grilling, baking, boiling etc… following Shin-Sen-Gumi recipes and present food quickly and efficiently, meeting Torisoba Tonsho standards.
- Scrape food from dirty dishes and wash them by hand or place them in racks or on conveyor to dish-washing machine.
- Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Empty trash as needed.
- Maintain a clean kitchen counter, stove, griddle, oven, refrigerator, and kitchen instruments.
- Work safely around kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues to the manager.
- Monitor the temperature of all refrigerators and freezers routinely.
- Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
- Monitor inventory and report items that need to be reordered.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and bring issues to management when necessary.
- Collaborate with fellow servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
- Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate a positive working environment.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods or when needed.
- Participate in pre-shift meetings and training sessions as required.
- Stock service areas with supplies as needed and perform other necessary or incidental tasks.
- Responsible for filling out daily tip reports.
- Be responsible for maintaining clean restrooms.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
- Comply with the Department of Public Health Regulation and all other applicable laws and regulations.
- Be punctual when reporting to work as well as performing designated duties.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures and follow each restaurant’s manual.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the kitchen manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Must have a valid Food Handler Certification.
- Must have a valid Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification if over 18 years old.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude, enjoyment of the hospitality industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
- Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail, ensuring accurate order-taking and payment processing.
- Knowledge of food and beverage menus, including dietary restrictions and allergies.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips and reading skills.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods.
- Must be able to understand and carry out instructions.
