THE ROLE
When you join the YES Prep team, you will play an integral role in ensuring that all YES Prep campuses are structurally maintained and safe for our students and staff. Some of the exciting work and responsibilities will include:

Actively supporting the mission of educational equity and pathways to college by ensuring safe access to facilities
-
Ensuring daily safe access to the assigned campus for all staff and students
- Participating, facilitating, and observation of drills and emergency procedures
-
Investigations and auditing as assigned
-
Providing a controlled environment to facilitate the best learning environment.
- Using and implementing cutting edge designs and technology
-
Leading job site team, including directly supervising a staff of superintendents, engineers, and administrators to achieve financial, productivity, quality, and safety objectives
-
Managing project finances, including but not limited to buyout within the established estimate, owner directed changes, and subcontractor change management
-
Developing and maintaining construction schedule, tracking progress and planning upcoming work to achieve project schedule milestones
-
Developing a QA/QC plan for the project, and overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the plan
-
Developing detailed subcontractor scope descriptions, providing thorough review of subcontractor proposal to ensure scope inclusions
-
Ensuring coverage of project estimate by reviewing construction documents and identifying and addressing potential scope gaps or savings
-
Performing constructability review during preconstruction and providing solutions to potential issues
-
Anticipating potential project issues, planning activities to prevent problems and accomplishing project objectives
-
Developing a project specific safety plan that creates a culture of safe work behavior on site, and overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the plan
-
Developing a Crisis Management plan for the project
-
Identifying actual and potential safety hazards and taking appropriate steps to remove safety hazards
-
Managing interactions of corporate departments and subsidiaries with the project team
-
Acting as project team leader and champion in the implementation and enforcement of company policies and procedures
-
Ensuring the project meets budget and schedule
-
Managing closeout process effectively

THE MUST HAVES

Bachelor’s degree in construction science or 3-4 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree

2-4 years’ experience in commercial construction at a supervisor level, including experience with a commercial general contractor

Experience working on-site managing renovation or ground-up construction
-
Previous experience in leading a project with the ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously
-
Mastery of reading construction drawings; tasks including reading, interpreting, and updating construction project-related drawings
-
Ability to organize necessary resources, including people, tools, and time to meet tight deadlines and achieve desired results
-
Strong computer skills and ability to write clear accurate reports
-

THE PERKS

Compensation – This position is an exempt, salaried position; offers commensurate with experience.
- Health and Supplemental Insurance – A $0 monthly medical option that includes $600 towards a Health Savings Account, in addition to a variety of supplemental benefits including Dental, Vision, Disability, Life, etc. Employees must work 20+ hours a week to be eligible for a full spectrum of benefits, and 10 hours a week minimum for medical benefits.
Retirement Plans – Participation in Teacher Retirement System of Texas and a 457b Retirement Plan.
Paid Time Off – Employees working 20+ hours a week receive 15 days of Paid Time Off in addition to the system closures during the Academic Calendar.
