Smooth-On, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, 1st Shift Production and Wet Packaging associate to join our company. Smooth-On is a 120 yr old company, located near Allentown, PA, specializing in silicones, liquid rubber, liquid plastics, foams and other products that allow creators from all walks of life to turn their ideas into 3-dimensional reality. This role will be responsible for safely, accurately and efficiently packing out liquid and powder products from production tanks or bulk containers to finished goods unit containers and cleaning production tanks and pots. First Shift: 5:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
Pay: $19.00/ HR
Essential Job Functions:
- Work with all employees, customers and vendors in a civil, professional and respectful manner at all times – verbally, non-verbally and in writing.
- Operate pint capping/sealing machinery, 1 and 5 gal filler machine, pail vacuum system, closed loop cleaning system in a safe and efficient manner.
- Retrieve packaging components and dispense high quality products from production tanks into containers by weight or volume that is attractive to the customer.
- Accurately follows and completes wet pack sheets according to packaging components, labels, product, weights and volume.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Strive to learn new equipment.
- Trained yearly if directly involved with handling (i.e. 90 day storage drum management, transporting, etc.) of hazardous waste drums.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs occasionally
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently
- Knowledge of raw materials and packaging supplies, preferred.
- Willing to learn to identify and handle Hazardous Materials.
- Experience using standing forklift or willingness to be trained.
- Strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
- Capability to prioritize and work independently.
- Will need to be fitted for a full face respirator, which will require a clean shaven face.
Experience and Education:
- Two (2) years successful experience in a manufacturing environment.
- High school graduate or GED; must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Previous machine operating experience in a chemical industry preferred.
