You will be responsible for providing direct patient care of our Sisters in need. Our patients are Sisters who have devoted their lives to the care of others and now they need your care and compassion.
Position Summary: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse. The LPN may from time to time, direct the nursing assistant to complete certain tasks, consistent with the Nursing Assistant job description.
Position Responsibilities:
- Follows the nursing and medical plan of care as delineated by the RN and the physician
- Observes, documents and reports to the RN information related to patient response to nursing/medical intervention
- Administers medications and treatments in accordance with policy and procedure and within approved scope of practice
- Reinforces patient’s teaching of routine, task-oriented activities
- Keep records of symptoms and progress
- Works in harmony and unison with all personnel
- Assists in smooth, efficient and effective delivery of services to patients, families and physicians
- Accepts on call responsibilities as necessary
- Other duties as required
Position Qualifications:
Required
· Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing
· Current and valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
(Note: Individuals who do not pass the NCL WEX-RN exam, but have a current, valid license as an LPN are not required to also attend a School of Practical Nursing)
· Current basic life support training
· Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with a broad range of employees and external contacts
· Solid computer skills
Preferred
· Prior experience in a healthcare or religious organization strongly preferred
· Understanding and appreciation of the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy
· Familiarity with the Catholic Church structures and teaching
