What are we looking for in a Mental Health Assistant?
The Mental Health Assistant works within our Acute Care team to provide support and evaluations for individuals experiencing a crisis. This position assists in gathering referral information, initiates the initial conversation with referred individuals, gathers information related to the presenting issue, and staffs the case with the DCR. This particular position will focus on addressing calls coming through the crisis line and assisting those that present to the Crisis Office. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills and knowledge of community resources are necessary in this role. This position is located in our crisis facility in Kennewick and will serve all of Benton and Franklin Counties. This is a part-time, overnight position at 36 hours per week with three, 12-hour shifts each week: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 7:30pm-8am.
Mental Health Assistant duties may include:

answering crisis line calls or receiving in-person crisis referrals

gathering information from the individual & the referents

assessing the individual for immediate safety, providing appropriate interventions when indicated

consulting with the DCR about each case

providing direct support to clients and coordinating services between Comprehensive and community providers

completing all documentation in a respectful, client-centered manner
Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
-
One year of related work experience or training
-
Driver's license and vehicle liability insurance, plus at least 2 years of safe driving experience

Must be eligible for Agency Affiliated Counselor registration
