Based in Midland, TX with operations primarily across West Texas and NM. Work with key oil & gas companies and become a valuable part of the team assisting Sentinel with Fuel Services Sales. Our operations are rapidly expanding to include Water Services and Automation Services to the oil and gas industry.
Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager in Fuel Services will be responsible for the oversight of our Fuel Services, new, and future growth. You will be experienced in the Oil &Gas Industry, Buying Selling and Trading Fuel and Fuel Services Business Development. Ability to negotiate purchasing agreements with Refineries for bulk fuel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.
- May assist operations with Interviews, Hires, And Training New Staff in The Department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Negotiate purchasing agreements with Refineries for bulk fuel.
- Contact existing relationships to sell and develop rig and frac fuel business.
- Builds market position by locating, developing, defining, and closing business relationships.
- Identifies trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.
- Develops Fuel & Light Oil sales plan and manages sales of refinery production to ensure product is placed at highest valued market netted back to refinery gate.
- Manages the buying, selling, and trading of Fuel & Light oils to meet customer demands.
- Analyzes and performs a needs analysis and financial assessment of the bulk sale vs. rack sale to determine the best direction for the Company.
- Develops and manages the supply forecasting, market analysis, sales / acquisition strategies, hedging alternatives analysis, scheduling, and logistics, purchasing, operating plans and inventory balancing for assigned products and territory.
- Identifies new markets, new customers, and new exchange opportunities.
- Studies market intelligence and economic analyses to determine the best business approach and plan for the Company.
- Analyzes industry RFP’s and develops strategy on whether to participate.
- Utilizes available term storage to enhance light product profitability.
- Assists the Owner with product marketing and overall strategy Special assignments or tasks, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
- Locates or proposes potential business deals by contacting potential partners.
- Discovers and explores business opportunities.
- Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, and financials.
- Evaluates options and resolves internal priorities.
- Recommends equity investments.
- Develops negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations.
- Examines risks and potential for business opportunities.
- Estimates partners’ needs and goals.
- Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; and integrating contract requirements with business operations.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma. Bachelor’s degree in business or technical-related fields or MBA is Preferred.
- A minimum of 5+ negotiating purchasing agreements with Refineries for bulk fuel.
- Have extensive relationships built in the industry for rig and frac fuels.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in negotiating with refineries of over 5 million gallons of fuel or more in a year.
- A minimum of 5+ years of sales experience in Fuel Services Sales or business development in the Oil and Gas industry in the Permian Basin, preferably in the Midland/Odessa area.
- A minimum of 5+ years of sales experience in Fuel Services Sales or business development in the Oil and Gas industry in the Permian Basin, preferably in the Midland/Odessa area.
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in supply and trading of refined products, financial analysis, and logistics in the oil and gas industry is required.
- Preferred Experience Refining experience are preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of customer requirements, market conditions, compliance, operations, and efficiency.
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills including but not limited to communicating complex technical content to a range of audiences.
- Ability to multi-task, find solutions and establish priorities.
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
- Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.
- Valid and clean driver license.
- Complete and pass a background, MVR, and drug/alcohol screening prior to hire.
Physical Requirements:

- Regularly be exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
