Reporting to the Campus Facilities Manager This position will oversee and perform maintenance and landscaping duties for the college ground areas and assist as needed with other tasks such as routine furniture moving and room/event set-up.
This position will supervise inmate work crews (except North Mohave Campus), according to ADC guidelines.

Summer hours - 4-day work week
- Assign work to prisoners and provide feedback regarding job performance as required/requested by the correctional facility. Train crew(s) in the work involving landscaping and maintenance of grounds.

Maintain, operate, install, and upgrade irrigation systems. Program controllers. Operate remote control device to check irrigation systems.

Clean, repair, and service all equipment used in grounds maintenance such as mowers, tractor/trailers, dump trucks, front-end loaders, high-lift fork trucks, wood chippers, snow plows, salt spreaders, and a variety of hand/power tools.

Plant and trim lawns, trees, bushes, hedges, and shrubs using hand tools or motorized vehicles. Fertilize soil when needed for plant growth. Maintain desert landscaped areas.

Landscape new ground areas, repair damaged ground areas, replace bushes, hedges, shrubs, trees and desert landscaping as needed.

Care for and maintain desert landscaped areas.

Safely apply herbicide and pesticide chemicals to grounds, trees, bushes, shrubs, and lawns in order to control plant diseases and insects with minimal impact to other wildlife. Ensure compliance with OSHA guidelines.

Assist with basic construction tasks related to grounds maintenance (ditch digging, cement work, laying tar and asphalt, fence and sign installation, etc).

Responsible for notifying supervisor when supplies for all aspects of groundskeeping, including equipment, plants, trees, gravel, herbicides, fertilizers, etc, need to be ordered.

Drive vehicles such as a car, truck, or van to pick up other workers, supplies and materials as required.

Adhere to college administrative policies and procedures, state and federal guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations affecting college operations.

On those campuses where needed, remove snow from sidewalks and spread salt on sidewalks during icy conditions.

Perform other tasks of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Associate's Degree or completion of an apprenticeship period or certificated training though a vocational school or program or five (5) years experience in one or more relevant building trades or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
NOTE: After hire, the individual must successfully pass a criminal background check and successfully complete mandatory training provided by the Arizona Department of Corrections to maintain employment.
