POSITION: Revenue Cycle Specialist-Cash Poster
REPORTS TO: Revenue Cycle Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt

Revenue Cycle Specialist – Cash Poster Position:
The Cash Poster is responsible for retrieving, posting, balancing, and reconciling all internal & external payments timely and accurately to the patient’s account. Interprets and analyzes remittance advices and handles high volume of payment transactions. Ensures the accuracy of all payment transactions by monitoring and reporting any discrepancies, rejections, returned transactions, unapplied payments, missing remits or payment supports, delays and trends to management and the accounting department for appropriate tracking and resolution. Strives to ensure all cash and bank credits received are posted on a daily basis to meet departmental goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processing all incoming cash receipts to the correct patient accounts accurately, which includes payments made by cash, credit card and lockbox deposits as well as other adjustments to customer accounts for credits/debits and account write-offs
- Identifies patterns of overpayments and escalate appropriately.
- Reconciliation on a daily basis to ensure accuracy of daily posting.
- Analyze and reconcile cash posting entries daily
- Review a variety of reports, documents and on-line data systems to research problems or missing EOBs.
- Ensure to work with management to minimize unapplied cash
- Maintain Compliance and HIPAA standards at all times
- Process insurance, client and patient refunds
- Process adjustments and credit balances
- Evaluate and respond to all emails request for any deposit issues in order to resolve in a timely matter
- All other duties as assigned
Knowledge & Duties:
- Completes required orientation as directed by facility
- Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
- Upholds HIPAA regulations
- Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
- Knowledge of medical insurance systems, government programs, electronic data exchange, medical documentation, Evaluation and Management, health insurance claim forms, and health insurance policies.
Minimal Requirements (Education and Experience):
- High School Diploma
- Minimum three-years’ experience in medical insurance
- Possesses a basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures
- Type at least 35wpm

Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment, where a great deal of time will be spent sitting in front of a computer screen. As a result, eyestrain and backaches are common.
