Position Overview:
As a Retail Shift Lead you’re the heartbeat of our store. You’ll lead by example, inspire your team, and make sure every customer leaves with a smile (and a treat). From sales and merchandising to inventory and staff supervision, you’ll keep things running smoothly and ensure our bakery is always at its best.
Key Responsibilities:
Retail Store Management:
- Keep the store clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Handle financial transactions, including managing petty cash and register cash drops.
- Deck the halls (and store) with holiday decorations to boost seasonal vibes.
- Ensure online orders are ready for delivery or pickup promptly.
- Use weather forecasts and holiday schedules to plan staff shifts.
- Be the go-to person for security and maintenance issues.
- Analyze sales performance and motivate the team to hit targets.
- Handle weekly schedules, payroll, and HR paperwork.
- Prepare daily reports on sales and inventory for the next manager.
- Check and respond to work emails within one business day.
Inventory Management:
- Conduct quarterly inventory audits and ensure accuracy.
- Train the team on inventory procedures.
- Create purchase orders, restock shelves, and maintain inventory levels.
- Track and receive incoming stock, and store perishable items quickly.
- Monitor product expiration dates and rotate stock to minimize waste.
- Inspect items to verify quantities and report any discrepancies.
- Identify slow-moving and popular products to optimize stock levels.
Merchandising:
- Conduct regular store walkthroughs to ensure top-notch merchandising.
- Stay updated on local market trends and competitor offerings.
- Adjust merchandising strategies based on product performance.
- Design and maintain eye-catching product displays.
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling.
- Ensure food samples are always available and refreshed.
Store Sales:
- Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm and product knowledge.
- Provide personalized recommendations based on customers' needs and preferences.
- Achieve and exceed sales targets through effective sales techniques.
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and feedback with professionalism.
- Keep abreast of product updates and promotions to inform customers effectively.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Be the first point of contact for scheduling issues and no-shows.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development plans for staff.
- Conduct team meetings to promote collaboration and goal alignment.
- Address employee relations issues promptly and effectively.
- Issue bi-weekly write-ups for team members not meeting sales goals.
- Assist with recruitment by posting job openings.
- Train and onboard new employees.
Customer Service and Engagement:
- Address customer inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Support initiatives to build strong customer service and loyalty.
- Monitor and respond to customer reviews on Yelp and Google.
- Plan and execute fun in-store events and attend off-site meetings.
Social Media Management:
- Create and curate content for our social media platforms (i.e.Instagram, TikTok).
- Monitor social media channels and respond to feedback promptly.
- Collaborate with pet influencers for partnerships and promotions.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.
1-5 years of retail management experience, preferably in the pet industry.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of food safety regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for pets and providing excellent customer service.
Working Conditions:
Work in both a retail store and production facility.
May require occasional lifting of heavy objects and exposure to pet food production processes.
Job Details:
Pay: $18 - $24/hour + tips + bonus/commission
Job Type: Part-time
Shift and Schedule: Rotating weekends, Morning/Afternoon/Evening shift
