Florida Heart Associates is recruiting for a full-time CMA/CNA to join our Clinical Support team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing large cardiology practice. The Clinical Support position will abstract patient charts and compile patient medical information into the medical record. The Clinical Support CMA assists in the electronic clinical chart abstraction process by interviewing patients via telephone and maintains patient electronic records.

We perform diagnostic cardiac testing, in addition to peripheral vascular procedures. We also support an in-house cardiac PET imaging system, stress testing, ECHO, and management of arrhythmia equipment.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent; at least one year of college in a medical related field
EXPERIENCE:
- At least one year of CMA or CNA experience
- Cardiology experience preferred
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: CMA or CNA
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Extract pertinent cardiology information from patient’s medical record and enter the information into EMR.
2. Conduct telephone interviews with new patients to obtain relevant medical history and create an electronic chart.
3. Responsible for ensuring all pertinent cardiology testing/records done elsewhere are in the patient’s electronic chart for physician/practitioners’ review.
4. Responsible for maintaining patient electronic charts for the next day’s clinic schedule for all providers and all locations.
5. Maintain appropriate productivity level.
6. Share work responsibilities within the department.
7. Maintain patient confidentiality.
8. This position will require rotation between all office locations.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervising manager.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong working knowledge of cardiac terminology, medications and diagnosis.
- Ability to apply critical thinking skills in relation to abstracting pertinent data from patient records into ECIS.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records and responding to correspondence.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, employees and external customers.
- Skill in operating computer, photocopier and fax machine.
- Ability to utilize computer knowledge and skills to enhance job performance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and all office and medical staff.
