Position Summary:
The RSD position is responsible for planning, implementing and supervising resident care and services in a residential setting, which may include a dementia/memory care unit. Additionally, job duties may include assuming RN responsibilities. RSC is responsible for directing, controlling, managing, and effectively assuring that systems are in place to provide for:

•Assures resident care and services meets acceptable standards and follows best practices
•Creates and maintains appropriate staffing schedules at levels within budget to meet resident needs
•Provides supervision, training, and evaluation of staff to assure proper resident care
•Maintain regulatory compliance with all agencies
•Assures proper documentation meets standards of practice
•Communicates resident care needs with RN Case Manager, physicians and other health care providers
•Coordinates and communicates resident care needs with resident and their responsible party
•Accessible to be on call to staff per schedule with Executive Director
•Weekend responsibilities required
•Cover uncovered shifts in emergency situations
•Interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating and disciplining resident services staff members.
•Establishing time schedule for caregiving staff on specific shifts
•Assigning and delegating responsibilities to various caregiving staff for specific residents and their care needs based on the qualifications of the staff and the needs of the resident
•Ensuring that each resident receives services as prescribed or requested in accordance with federal and state regulations and community standards, policies and procedures
•Assuring prompt, appropriate action in cases of injury, illness, fire and/or other emergencies
•Additional RN duties may include:
•Completing pre-placement resident assessments
•Reviewing ongoing resident assessments and updating as needed
oMay include training and delegating other staff members to perform assessments and overseeing those staff members
•Managing resident health care concerns as needed
•Developing and/or assisting in development of resident service plans
•Reviewing resident incident reports and participating in corrective action plan development
•Providing resident first aid and/or emergency assistance while on site at the community or with residents outside of the community
•Acting as a clinical resource to all Resident Services staff members
•Completing and supervising RN delegation, as applicable by state law
•Providing staff training programs and staff training as requested
•Assures proper documentation meets standards of practice.
•Communicates with Resident Service Director, Executive Director and/or manager on duty relative to resident care needs, which may include communication with resident's physicians
•Is required to be on call relative to resident care/emergency/medication issues
•Weekend responsibilities may be required
