We are looking for a full time veterinary technician with experience to join our team.
The Veterinary Technician is responsible for preparing, assisting and monitoring patients for exam, treatments and surgeries. This is an overview of the position and is not limited to the duties listed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of: Proper methods of animal restraint
Cleaning and disinfecting methods and use and care of cleaning materials and equipment
Ability to: Use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency,
Perform moderately heavy physical labor
Empathetically and compassionately treat sick and injured animals,
Learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions,
Understand and carry out oral and written directions,
Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Maintain a neat and professional image
Education: Equivalent to completion of 12th grade
Experience: Previous experience in veterinary hospital or related medical field preferred
Major Goals:
- To be efficient, very pleasant, courteous, polite, concerned and helpful to all clients under all conditions at all times.
- To keep the office organized, ensuring smooth and efficient client flow.
- To recommend all necessary laboratory work, such as pre-anesthetic profiles, heartworm tests, feline leukemia tests, geriatric physicals, that are necessary for optimum patient care.
- To recommend all vaccinations that are necessary for optimum patient care.
- To recommend products such as flea control, vitamins, diets and dental prophy’s that are necessary for optimum patient care.
- To counsel clients regarding behavioral problems, obesity, geriatric care, nutritional problems, flea control, etc.'
