Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Postal Associate’s duties include:
- Weigh letters, parcels and affix correct postage; compute mailing costs based on type, weight, and destination
- Sell and collect payment for products such as stamps, prepaid mail, envelopes, and money orders utilizing RRS & POS system
- Answer questions regarding mail regulations and procedures, postage rates, and student boxes
- Sort incoming and outgoing mail, according to type and destination
- Deliver and obtain signatures from recipients of parcels or special mail services
- Transport mail to student mail boxes, departments and off campus delivery locations
- Process passport applications as an acceptance agent in the university passport office
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
Knowledge of
- USPS postal regulations, operation and resources
- Operation of PC, mail metering and POS system
- Postal Safety and security regulations
Required Certifications or licensure
- Valid NC Driver License
- Annual certification as passport acceptance agent or eligibility to obtain certification upon hire
