Job Summary:
The Sheet Metal Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of sheet metal fabricating equipment. This role requires a combination of mechanical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and a keen understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preventive Maintenance:Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance on all sheet metal fabrication equipment to ensure machines are running efficiently and safely.
- Troubleshooting & Repair:Diagnose machine malfunctions and carry out repairs promptly to minimize production downtime.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all machines are compliant with safety standards and protocols. Identify and rectify potential safety hazards related to equipment malfunction.
- Equipment Inspection: Regularly inspect machines for signs of wear, damage, or inefficiency and address any issues found.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, including parts replaced, repairs made, and any recommendations for future actions.
- Tools & Parts Inventory:Keep an organized inventory of tools and parts. Reorder supplies when necessary.
- Continuous Improvement:Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated or inefficient machinery.
- Training: Train production staff on basic machine operation and troubleshooting techniques to enhance overall production efficiency and safety.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production supervisors and operators to ensure equipment meets production needs.
- Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with equipment manufacturers or vendors for specialized repairs, parts ordering, or warranty issues.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machine maintenance or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years in equipment maintenance, preferably in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Technical Skills:Proficiency in reading and understanding machinery manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams.
- Physical Requirements:Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts, stand for extended periods, and work in noisy environments.
- Certifications:Certifications in equipment maintenance, safety protocols, or related fields are a plus.
