The Cape Fear Museum is looking for a Casual Part-Time Visitor Services Assistant to engage with the public and provide a welcoming and meaningful museum experience.
The Front Desk Staff is the primary interface with Museum visitors and members. This position is highly visible and sets the tone of hospitality for the Museum. The front desk is welcoming to visitors greeting them, both in person or on the telephone, providing information about the Museum, and answering or referring inquiries. In addition, the position utilizes our point of sale system (Altru) to collect admission fees and prepares daily settlement and visitor reports. Good interpersonal skills, friendliness and a positive attitude in representing the Museum are essential for this position.
Essential Duties

Represent the Museum to visitors. Greets and welcomes guests in friendly, respectful and hospitable manners.

Performs opening and closing Museum Procedures.

Processes admission fees and data entry.

Ability to learn and operate point of sale system, accept cash and credit card charges, and balance reporting at the end of each day.

Answer calls, direct calls and take complete and accurate messages.

Communicates information about Cape Fear Museum, membership, events, programs and exhibits to the visiting public.

Assisting all units with projects as needed.
Preferred Knowledge and Abilities-
Enthusiasm, a cheerful attitude and a willingness to learn.

Good interpersonal skills to work in a team environment.

Admissions or retail experience with computer POS systems.

Excellent communication skills to greet and converse with the public.

Professional telephone demeanor and ability to operate telephone system.

An interest in working with people and willing to become knowledgeable about Museum exhibits and programs.

8:45 AM - 5:15 PM Monday- Saturday
12:45 PM - 5:15 PM Sundays
19 hours a week or less, some weekend shifts are required
Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.
