Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. As an Assistant Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, reports, accounts and payroll. You will work closely with the CFO and other members of the finance department to support financial operations and provide valuable insights for decision-making. Roles Responsibilities
- Prepare weekly cash flow for small boutique hotel and food and beverage outlets
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and operating forecasts
- Prepare daily and month end journal entries for various entities
- Manage the payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions
- Champion of point of sale and property management systems
- Partner with department heads to prepare monthly financial accruals and reclassifications
- Train non-financial managers on monthly financial statement review and budget preparation
- Maintain general ledger and all balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare Ad-hoc and analysis reports
- Act with high integrity and work to improve stakeholder profits
- Create financial SOPs as needed
- Safeguard cash and assets. Reconciles cash and credit card payments received daily
- Prepare daily banking reconciliations for all assigned entity bank accounts
- Maintain a thorough understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and apply them to financial processes
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or releveant field. Will consider a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts and principles
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records
- Familiarity with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Prior experience in hotel and restaurant accounting in New York City required
- Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office Suite
- Must have advanced Excel skills
- Proficiency in GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and ability to apply them effectively
- Ability Individual to deliver clear and concise communication to relevant stakeholders

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
