Host/Hostess - Togo Job Description
Reports to: General Manager/Department Manager
Summary of Position:
Our mission is to provide an innovative and entertaining dining experience which will compel our guests to become raving fans and create brand loyalty. Join us as a guest, leave as a friend. The Host/Hostess welcomes and entertains guests in a warm, friendly manner to provide a positive first impression of service. They are responsible to manage the efficient and timely seating of our guests, retail orders, answering the phones, call ahead seating, reservations, and guest inquiries. They are also responsible for handling all Curbside and Togo orders, payment of Togo orders, and assisting the servers and bartenders with sales and table maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic restaurant hospitality and fully engaged, service minded attitude
- Food Safety certification, as state law requires
- Able to stand for 10 hours
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Good hearing for safety and accurate communication (with or without accommodation)
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English
- Must have reliable transportation
- Basic computer usage skills
- Must possess valid food safety certification or any other food/alcohol certification if required by state law
- Compliance with our dress and appearance policy including black slip resistant shoes
Responsibilities and Duties
- Believes in and follows all team standards and expectations.
- Complete training and pass all tests with a 90% or better.
- Clock in and report to the Manager on duty on time.
and in full uniform for each shift.
- Perform host stand set-up, opening duties, running side work and closing duties. (Obtain Manager's approval prior to punching out)
- Be the positive and uplifting first and last impression of our guests.
- Answer the phone promptly with a smile.
- Communicate and seat guests in an organized, professional and friendly fashion.
- Accept reservations based on Company standards.
- Manage quotes and waiting periods based on Company standards using a guest management system.
- Inspect restrooms and parking lot for cleanliness.
- Maintain cleanliness of the host area and guest waiting areas.
- Attend all employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement.
- Maintain restaurant safety and sanitation.
- Assist in table maintenance and bussing for prompt seating.
- Is aware of and abides by all liquor service laws.
- Alert Manager immediately if intoxicated Guest enters the restaurant.
- Must pass general information and departmental tests with a grade of 90% or higher.
- Always friendly and courteous on the telephone and in person.
- Always maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Handle guest concerns with courtesy.
- Suggestively sells feature items and drinks to guests to assist servers and bartenders
- Provide information to guests when requested.
- Processes guest retail sales.
- Take to-go orders for guests and process payment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by a Manager.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: Up to $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
