The Technical Instruction Engineer is primarily responsible for delivering technical courses to our partners in the United States and Canada. These classes serve to educate our channel partners and end users on the setup, configuration, functionality, and maintenance of our Advanced VMS products as well as prepare them to earn one of three certifications. It requires a strong aptitude in the fields of physical security and IT. In-depth knowledge of IP video surveillance systems and general knowledge of access control systems and data networks are crucial to success.
Technical Instruction Engineers must act professionally, be comfortable presenting in front of small and medium-sized groups, and have a strong desire for continued learning as technology and business initiatives evolve.
The candidate for this remote position must be located in the Western United States, in either the Pacific or Mountain time zones. Preference is shown for those within two hours of a major airport.

Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The person taking on this role will excel in the following areas, but not limited to:
- Instructing Milestone partners (System Integrator-Partners, End-Users, Technology, and Strategic Partners) on acquiring, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting XProtect VMS products.
- Deliver the following courses in specified regions and/or via online learning:
- Technical Configuration 1
- Technical Configuration 2
- Solution Design
- Smart Client Training
- Customized Training
- Maintain a minimum average score of 4.1 in all categories on post-course attendee surveys.
- Maintain a working understanding of Milestone software and hardware solutions.
- Effectively manage time and work independently.
- Continuously contribute to department-owned custom training curriculum as well as provide feedback to our Learning & Performance team on their content.
- Maintain a company-provided server kit for custom training.
- Actively participate in process and product improvement.
Additional Duties
- Travel as needed in the US & Canada.
- Accurately submit expenses at the end of each engagement within spending guidelines.
- Annual Professional Development of your choice (technical or training-related).
- Other duties as assigned.
Your Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need a combination of technical expertise and a desire to train and educate others on our product line, both in person and through our online training platform.
Experience with hardware and software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting is required. Security industry "insiders" with previous experience in Video Management Software strongly preferred. You may have a background in technical training, technical support, customer service, or IT. You will also demonstrate the following skills regularly:

Working Conditions
This position is considered remote so you will be based at home with a management team based in the Eastern time zone. The team meets every Friday at the end of each week to discuss engagements, communicate important information, and interact.
- Technical Instruction Engineers must have a valid driver’s license and a current passport.
- Occasional travel with equipment requires lifting of server case that weighs up to 50 lbs.

The annual earnings for this position range from $61,439 to $116,292 with most candidates falling in the $74,234 to $105,000 range. Pay is based on the level, location, complexity, responsibility, and job duties of the specific position and is just one component of Milestone’s total compensation package. Additionally, we offer an attractive benefits package that includes medical/dental benefits, FSA or HSA, 401k with 6% Safe Harbor employer match, paid parental leave, generous PTO (20 days' vacation, 10 days paid sick time, and 12 company holidays), fully paid Short Term disability policy, fully paid Long Term disability policy, and Life Insurance.
