The Food Service Worker at the CCA YMCA is a part-time, 25 hour per week position. This position works Monday through Friday from 7:45am to 1:15pm with a 30-minute unpaid meal break. The Food Service Worker supports the Preschool Department during the school year and the Summer Camp Program during the camp season as well as supportive roles with snack for the Before and After School Program. We do not cook the meals on premises but serve according to NJ Department of Health regulations. This position supports serving, cleaning, and the responsibility of inventory and the cleanliness of the kitchen area.

Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Supports and follows the YMCA of Vineland’s mission, philosophy, policies, character development program, programs, and goals.

Is responsible for the safety and well-being of the children at all times.

Assisting the staff with other duties as required for the operation of the Child Care Program.

Attends all staff meeting and in-service trainings as required by the Director.

Abides by the Staff Code of Conduct and the Child Abuse Prevention Policy.

Attend and pass the City of Vineland’s Food Safety Course
-
Work with vendors to ensure healthy meals that meet the Department of Agriculture’s food requirements.

Inventory control

Menu preparation and ordering
-
Overseeing the accuracy of the Meal Count paperwork.

NJ state voucher preparation, accuracy and timely submission of the food voucher

Ensuring that breakfast, lunch, and snack are served in a timely manner adhering to all safety and sanitation guidelines.

Cleaning of all kitchen appliances

Rotation of all food items

Checking in food deliveries.

Works in cooperation with other staff members to ensure the best possible environment for the participants.

Maintains sensitivity, patience and care to meet each child’s individual basic needs, be aware of food allergies and food sensitivities.

Promptly addresses any personal or programmatic problems and recommends suggestions to the Preschool or Senior Directors.

Maintains confidentiality of the children’s and staff’s information.

Maintains program areas in a neat and clean manner.

Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law.

At least 18 years of age.
-
CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of
hire date. -
Preferred, but not required, Safe Serve Certification.
- Preferred, but not required, CACFP & SFSP experience.
- Must have good time management and organization skills.
- Basic business computer program skills, such as using spreadsheets, are required.
- Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Performs heavy work which includes: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to constantly move objects, including human bodies. Must be able to climb steps with up to 20 pounds being carried.
