Reports to the Director of Housekeeping
Summary: The housekeeper’s primary purpose is to maintain assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive manner in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor, to assure that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is maintained at all times.
Qualifications:
1. A high school diploma is desirable but not required
2. Must possess the ability to follow verbal directions
3. Cleaning experience is desirable but not essential
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the following including, but not limited to:
- Perform cleaning procedures in accordance with facility policy
- Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.
- Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy
- Ability to follow directions
- Assist in proper care and use of housekeeping equipment
- Identify and report any equipment malfunction to supervisor
- Report any observed area in poor repair to a supervisor
- Ability to disperse soap, paper and other housekeeping supplies
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgement involved in maintaining assigned areas in a clean and orderly condition
- Work under close supervision performing simple standardized tasks; having frequent contact with staff members, residents, volunteers and visitors
- Assist residents with eating, either totally or partially, during mealtime
- Assist with the serving and removal of meal trays
- Ability to assist in providing services necessary to maintain a sanitary, orderly, comfortable, safe, homelike environment
- Ability to record residents food intakes as directed and report any problems or changes in residents eating habits to charge nurse
- Willingness to perform routine, repetitive task on a continuous basis and to perform task despite frequent interruptions
- Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in the vicinity
- Arrange furniture in an orderly fashion
- Observe infection control procedures related to housekeeping department
- Ability to follow resident’s rights and policies at all times
- Ability to follow facility safety program
- Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability, punctuality and maintain a neat personal appearance
- Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner
- Assume accountability for data contained in the employee’s handbook
- Assist with laundry duties
- Ability to perform other related duties as directed by the Director of Housekeeping
