GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Must operate the WIC computer basic software program to provide services daily in clinic. Must conduct vendor visits in accordance to the WIC policies and procedures. Will be responsible for conducting nutrition education classes using WIC approved materials. Promote breastfeeding to all WIC participants. Will be responsible for assisting with WIC inventory which includes education supplies, equipment and maintaining the educational room used for classes. Will be responsible for assisting with community out-reach events.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Provide basic nutrition counseling to WIC participants in individual and/or group sessions- by use of audio visuals, educational materials, food demonstrations, and food tasting. Contact the language line as need for assistance with patients that do not speak English.

Print prescribe WIC vouchers using the PHAME computer program. Document WIC education and follow activities in patient’s record using the PHAME System.

Educate patients on the rules and regulations of the WIC Program and WIC draft usage. Conduct edit check(s) on file for completion prior to filing documents.

Promote Breastfeeding awareness to all expecting mothers.

Conduct nutrition education classes by using WIC State Agency documents as provided on the portal. Sharing WIC approved recipes with clients during classes and using WIC food items.

Teach safety and sanitation in food preparation and proper food storage.

Order educational supplies as needed. Conduct monthly and /or yearly inventory of educational equipment and supplies as assigned.

Conduct quarterly grocery store visits to assigned vendors as assigned.

Conducts community outreach activities as assigned.

Maintain patient confidentiality in information received from providers and patients. Understands and abides by HIPAA guidelines.

Prepare monthly reports on distribution progress.

Maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, dual-relationships, and professional statures.

Participants in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in area(s) of expertise; compete equity trainings as identified. Share equity trainings with preceptor, who shares with other university professors.

Attends meetings as appropriate and meet regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves a sedentary work environment. Work is normally performed in clinic setting, WIC office with Computer, nutrition education materials and displays. Outreach Work will require working in various temperatures outside or other designated facilities.'
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a high school diploma or GED

Demonstrated skill in planning, implementing or teaching non-formal educational programs with adults or youth
-
Must have experience working with a diverse population.

Must have excellent communication skills, including verbal and written.

Must be computer literate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
