Teacher Assistant
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with Instruction:
- Support the classroom teacher in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Help prepare teaching materials and resources.
- Conduct small group or one-on-one instruction under the guidance of the teacher.
- Classroom Management:
- Assist in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom environment.
- Help monitor student behavior and implement behavior management strategies.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, lunch, recess, and field trips.
- Student Support:
- Provide additional assistance to students with special needs or those requiring extra help.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage student engagement and participation.
- Administrative Duties:
- Assist with grading assignments, tests, and projects.
- Help maintain student records and track progress.
- Perform clerical tasks such as photocopying, filing, and organizing classroom materials.
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings as required.
- Provide feedback to the classroom teacher on student progress and behavior.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Stay informed about educational best practices and school policies.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate's degree or higher in Education or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting preferred.
- Experience with special education or English language learners is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, email).
