THE POSITION
Under direction, the Senior Recreation Leader in Sports will assist with training, scheduling, and directing the work of part-time employees; assist with planning, organizing, marketing, and coordinating sports programs; creates teams from registrations, organizes, and conducts program registration, coaches meetings, creates practices and games schedules; tracks inventory of sports equipment, maintains a clean and organized work environment; supervise and monitor use of facilities; inspect facilities for safety and cleanliness; prepare facilities for users; provide information regarding facilities; prepare reports; conducts/attends regular staff meetings and service training; establish working relationships with groups and provide assistance to meet their needs; and perform other duties as assigned.
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Duties typically are performed in both indoor and outdoor settings and require: frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, running; dexterity, facility equipment, program equipment, and standard office equipment; hearing and speech to communicate in person; mobility to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Typical work environment includes moderate noise levels, varying temperatures/weather and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances; employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives and contractors in interpreting and enforcing departmental and City policies and procedures.
