Position Summary: We seek a passionate and dynamic Spanish Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will teach the Spanish language and emphasize the importance of culture and identity through various innovative and engaging strategies. This role involves designing and implementing a curriculum integrating language learning with cultural immersion, project-based learning, and experiential opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching Spanish and will collaborate with other teachers to incorporate Spanish into the curriculum. The Spanish teacher will be responsible for designing and delivering lessons that engage students in learning Spanish and will be expected to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, interactive, and challenging Spanish lessons for students at all levels.
- Collaborate with other teachers to incorporate Spanish into the curriculum.
- Work with students to develop their Spanish language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback to students and parents.
- Utilize various teaching methods and resources to meet the needs of different learning styles.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methods and resources in Spanish language education.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities.
- Culture and Identity
- Create lesson plans with project-based assignments that are engaging, educational, and exciting for the student.
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
- Incorporate culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL):
- Collaborate with teachers to design and implement projects that require using Spanish to solve real-world problems or complete culturally relevant tasks.
- Technology and Multimedia:
- Incorporate language learning apps that facilitate interactive and fun language practice.
- Utilize multimedia resources such as movies, music, podcasts, and video games to provide varied and engaging learning materials in Spanish.
- Experiential Learning Opportunities:
- Offer opportunities for students to experience Spanish language and culture firsthand.
- Encourage community engagement through participation in local cultural events.
- Language Across the Curriculum:
- Integrate Spanish into other subjects related to Spanish-speaking countries, such as history, art, or geography.
- Personalized Learning Paths:
- Encourage self-directed learning by supporting students in pursuing their Spanish language and culture interests.
- Guide students to create language portfolios showcasing their progress through written, oral, and multimedia projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification in Spanish or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Spanish and a deep understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.
- Experience with project-based learning and experiential education.
- Strong technology skills and familiarity with language learning apps and multimedia resources.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally respectful learning environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $40.00 per hour
