The Bottling Forklift Operator/Cellar Worker is responsible for the safe, sustainable, compliant, and efficient completion of a broad range of bottling and cellar activities assigned by the Cellar Master. This position supports all bottling and cellar functions throughout the year by providing safe and efficient forklift operations in a high traffic and fast-paced production environment. During bottling season responsibilities include shipping/receiving of packaging materials and finished goods, tracking and inventory of all supplies for use on the bottling line. Outside of the bottling season this role will assist with all cellar duties as assigned by the Cellar Master such as wine movements, cellar sanitation, topping, etc. This position requires knowledge of high-quality winemaking methods, and it requires advanced experience in operating the equipment of a modern winery. What we will ask you to do:
Bottling (45%)

Under the direction of the Cellar Master, performs all bottling-related forklift operations such as the shipping/receiving of packaging materials and finished case goods.

Ability to use different types of forklift attachments including a clamp.

Organize and stage packaging materials in advance of bottling.
-
Receive case goods for use on the bottling line.
-
Verify all case goods trucks are loaded/unloaded and verify BOL information.
-
Operate pallet wrapper and correctly tag/ scan each pallet before shipping out.

Complete all necessary reports and logs related to bottling and inventory.
-
Complete daily forklift inspection and file forms necessary for safety compliance.
General Cellar (35%)
-
Performs cellar work per the instructions of the relevant SOP.

Cleans and sanitizes tanks, barrels, wine pumps, hoses, fittings, floors, and other winery equipment.

Gases tank headspace.
-
Inspects tank tops and tank fittings/thermostats.
-
Understands winery equipment, including different pump types and appropriate usage.

Demonstrates knowledge of sanitation practices.
-
Prepares tanks for various processes.
-
Makes wine and juice movements.
-
Loads/unloads bulk wine, barrel, grape, and supply trucks.

Scans, racks, fills, tops, cleans, SO2 gases, sanitizes, and stacks barrels.
Harvest (20%)

Operate forklifts with bin dumper attachments.

Manages sorting table, shaker table, de-stemmer, must-pump, and sump for red fruit processing.

Load and unload macro bins safely; wash, sanitize and stack empty macro bins.

Moves juice, wine, and grapes, including digging must from drained tanks.
What you will need:

5 years minimum cellar experience required, including 3 years of forklift experience.

Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Intermediate reading, writing, and math skills.

Must have intermediate English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Spanish communication skills a plus.

Must be flexible with work schedule to allow weekends and evenings as needed during harvest season; occasional evenings outside of harvest.

Must be able to work in a busy environment that may include heavy equipment and forklift activity, multiple conversations and music.

Forklift certified or the ability to be forklift, man lift, and CPR certified.

The salary range for this position is $23-$28.00 (DOE) and is what we expect to pay for the role.
