Little Pilgrim School (LPS) is looking to hire at Little Pilgrim School in Nashua, NH. LPS is seeking an experienced professional to help continue our long history of a caring, quality, preschool education.
Little Pilgrim School (“LPS”) is a state-certified secular preschool originally formed in 1959 by a group of Pilgrim Church members to meet the need for kindergarten classes in Nashua. When Nashua adopted public kindergarten, LPS became a preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. LPS now runs a morning preschool program (Monday – Friday) at Pilgrim Church for 2, 3 and 4 year olds. The LPS curriculum is play based and includes a wide variety of activities for two, three, and four-year-old children. LPS provides a caring environment for preschool children to gain and develop a greater sense of self-worth, respect for others, and an appreciation of their world.
Duties and responsibilities include the following tasks but are not limited to the following.
· Plan, supervise, and implement the lesson plans and program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of Little Pilgrim School.
· Consider individual children in relationship to their interests, special talents, and pace of learning.
· Maintain a professional and positive attitude at all times.
· Treat all staff, parents and children with care, kindness, dignity, and respect.
· Help children to become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
· Conduct parent conferences as scheduled, and as needed from time to time.
· Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and learning environment in the classroom.
· Assist in the planning and production of school-sponsored events for students and families.
· Create daily emails to families
· Assume an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
· Attend school each day it is in session. (Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
· Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
· Complete at least 18 hours of in-service training each year (per state licensing requirements) and provide documentation to the Director.
· Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and provide documentation to the Director.
· 2 – 5 years of Lead Toddler Teacher experience preferred.
· Meet the State of NH Requirements to be a Lead Teacher
· A lead teacher in a center-based program shall have a high school diploma or equivalent, including but not limited to General Equivalency Diploma (GED), a High School Equivalency Test (HiSet), or a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC), be at least 18 years old, and have one of the following:
(1) A minimum of 18 credits in related coursework, including at least 3 credits in child or human growth and development, plus a minimum of 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program or public or private elementary school;
(2) A minimum of 12 credits in related coursework, plus 3000 hours experience working with children in licensed child care program or public or private elementary school;
(3) Documentation of a non-expired child development associates (CDA) in center-based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition;
(4) A credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by MACTE;
(5) Five years as a licensed family child care provider with no enforcement actions imposed by the department;
(6) Successful completion of the New Hampshire Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program;
(7) A minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program, documentation of successful completion of a 2-year vocational course in career and technical education with an additional 9 credits in related coursework; or (8) Documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified for and employed in the position of lead teacher on or before November 6, 2017.
· Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid driver’s license to meet driving requirements
· Ability to respond immediately to crisis and emergency situations, including those involving children
· Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to play on the floor with children
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.50 per hour
