Job Summary: Provide professional nursing care to residents, following established policies, regulations, and standards of practice on an assigned unit, and assure resident safety.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Observe, evaluate and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established plan of care to assure continuity and to meet the individual needs of the resident.
- Perform the functions of a licensed nurse including administration of medications and treatments.
- Manage time in an effort to minimize or eliminate overtime.
- Supervise CNA staff to ensure that facility policies and procedures are followed, and that all state and federal regulations are adhered to.
- Oversee CNA assignments, and supervise that duties and responsibilities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assist residents/families with concerns or issues they report.
- Assist with admissions/discharges to/from assigned unit, perform assessments/evaluations as necessary.
- Observe residents for changes in condition. Notify physician of any changes, incidents, injuries or any other unusual events that require attention and request orders as indicated.
- Document any change of condition, incidents, injuries or unusual event in the residents’ medical record.
- Take and transcribe physician orders in accordance with facility policies.
- Participate in and complete all required in-service educational programs and competency evaluations.
- Assist with monthly review of Physician orders.
- Assure resident safety at all times.
