Transcontinental Packaging designs and manufactures a wide variety of functional multi-layer packaging films used in food, medical, and consumer markets. The Reasearch and Development (R&D) group is located at the corporate R&D facilities (the ASTRA Center) in Menasha in northeast Wisconsin. The ASTRA Center includes the testing labs which provide advanced physical testing and chemical characterization of polymers, coatings, and foils and the structural combinations of these materials. It also includes a pilot facility providing a wide variety of services and capabilities for the R&D projects as feasibility and scale up potential is evaluated.
The R&D group is currently looking for a Full-Time Plant Technician to assist operator with and/or perform machine set-up for orders, safely operate machine to target trial requirements, and troubleshoot machine(s) when it is down or not performing to standard. Expected to progress up to learn all equipment and roles to provide redundancy in knowledge of machine operation and technical experience.
This position will support the ASTRA Center with supplemental responsibilities, such as roll doctor operation, small-scale pilot lines operation, material property testing, and inventory and warehouse management.

Participatory management
Perform machine set-up to specifications outlined on the trial, safely operate machine, meet target material properties of trials, and trouble shoot machine.
Resin handling: Blend resins, monitor hoppers and blend quantities, blend additional resins when needed, perform resin changeovers, direct/prompt additional blending.
Material testing: Perform green off-line testing for material properties, such as COF, surface energy, basis weight, gauge, etc.
Operate small-scale pilot lines, such as The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) lab line, etc.
Warehouse: support shipping and receiving of material, maintain inventory system, transport material, etc.
Complete and collect process paperwork, such as run condition printouts and offline testing documentation.
Uphold all ethical standards associated with safety, quality and food safety policies and procedures within the facility, including the TC Transcontinental Code of Conduct and Values.
Comply with all the standards that are followed in the TC Menasha plant, including, but not limited to – Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Continuous Improvement (CI), and any other processes established within the TC Menasha plant.
Report all safety, quality, and food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
Follow procedures for proper handling, labeling, storage, and use of various types of products within the plant or on company property.
Participation and involvement in associated committees or activities is highly encouraged
