Special Education Teacher:
The Special EducationTeacher believes in the mission of TESG, to educate creative critically engaged citizens using an experiential curriculum that extends the classroom into the downtown Greensboro community. The Special Education Teacher meets the job expectations of the General Education Teacher and has specialized knowledge of the needs of children with dis/abilities. The Special Education Teacher has strong collaboration skills and believes in community-based problem solving. The Special Education Teacher is instrumental in the Individual Education Program (IEP) process, serves as case-manager, and navigates all legal and procedural expectations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Qualifications: minimum 4-year degree in Specialized Education Services with certification and experience in an elementary or middle school setting. Highly organized, collaborative and high initiative.
Duties: Establishes inclusive learning environment in collaboration with General Education Teachers; collaborates with General Education Teachers to implement inclusive practices; case-management of IEP caseload, responsible for implementation of IEPs - meeting all requirements and ensuring appropriate services are delivered, monitored, and reported. Partners with families via IEP meetings, progress reports, written and verbal communication.
