Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research seeks to improve the health of individuals, families, and populations by understanding the problems, issues, and alternatives in the design and delivery of health care services. This is accomplished through an interdisciplinary program of research, consultation, technical assistance, and training that focuses on timely and policy-relevant questions concerning the accessibility, adequacy, organization, cost, and effectiveness of health care services, and the dissemination of this information to policymakers and the general public.

Come work at Sheps! The Sheps Center for Health Services Research is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Research Assistant for a practice-based clinical trial focusing on blood pressure management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at improving patient outcomes in hypertension management and to develop valuable skills in research methodology and collaboration.
In this position you will travel to three local healthcare clinics to identify and recruit eligible participants for the clinical trial. You will screen potential participants using a study web-based data system based on study criteria, and then meet with the individuals to obtain informed consent and gather study data using that system according to established protocols. Ensure data integrity and confidentiality throughout the data collection process. Work closely with the research team, including principal investigators and other research staff, to ensure smooth implementation of the study.
The candidate will apply research methodologies relevant to clinical trials, including study design, data collection techniques, and data analysis. They will work with stakeholders, including healthcare providers and community organizations, to engage in collaborative research efforts. They will maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) compliance to ensure ethical conduct of research activities, and contribute to the development of research manuscripts and presentations for conferences and professional meetings. Finally, they will have the opportunity to be listed as a co-author on publications resulting from the clinical trial.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management software.
6. Ability and willingness to drive to multiple clinic sites within the local area.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Should have experience with data analysis and statistics.
