Top Chef Todd English’s signature restaurant will be a feature of this modern hotel which embraces the art district culture. As Kitchen Supervisor you will supervise the culinary team and assist with the planning, ordering or production of food items pertaining to the respective section(s) of the food and beverage outlet or kitchen. Prepare meals in accordance with portion and quality standards. Maintain sanitation standards in the food prep areas that meet the state and local Health Board inspection and hotel requirements
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitor performance and recommend disciplinary or other staffing/human resources-related actions in accordance with company rules and policies. Alert management of potentially serious issues.
- Supervise day-to-day activities of culinary team; schedule employees to ensure proper coverage.
- Provide instruction to less experienced culinary staff. Check the methods of preparation, portion, sizes, and timeliness of food preparation; control food usage to minimize waste.
- Assist in the supervision of day-to-day operation of the kitchen as needed; check the methods of preparation, portion, sizes, and timeliness of food preparation; control food usage to minimize waste
- Ensure the security and proper storage of kitchen inventory and equipment,
- Perform opening, closing and prep work duties.
- Maintain sanitation standards in the kitchen that meet the state and local Health Board inspection and hotel requirements.
- Assist in determining the minimum and maximum stocks of all food, material and equipment.
- Assist in creating and testing new recipes and menu design.
- Assist in inspecting the cleanliness of the line floor and all kitchen stations. Maintain and strictly abide by proper storage procedures and state sanitation and health regulations. Notify Maintenance of any needed repairs.
- May serve as Kitchen Manager in his/her absence
Essential Experience/Aptitudes:
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus two years of experience as a cook, or equivalent combination of education and food preparation experience.
- Degree or certificate in culinary arts preferred.
- Must have California Food Hander Certificate.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
- Possess a courteous, friendly and professional manner.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Good team player.
- Able to work productively with little supervision.
- Able to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once
- Must be organized, efficient and meet high quality standards for service
