Job Description:
Job Summary: The Certified Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for supporting the unit manager by assisting with the units daily activities, including rounding, managing resources and overseeing special projects. This position is responsible for ensuring that the department is stocked with supplies, instruments, implants, and all other equipment needed. The Certified Sterile Processing Supervisor will oversee the repair process of all broken instruments and equipment in the department and throughout the district.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Supervises assigned employees according to established hospital policies to ensure appropriate work environment.
Supervises and evaluates work activities of staff. Assists with administering employees’ evaluations and disciplinary action plans.
Supervises and maintains records for all aspects of instrument processing and repair.
Ensures that controlled activities (i.e. equipment sterilization, PAR level replenishment, sterile wraps, inventory control processing) are documented and maintained in a manner commensurate with accepted protocol.
Coordinates with all vendors to oversee the repair process of all items.
Communicates with coordinators, clinics and/or department when equipment is broken or out for repair.
Orders implants, instruments and supplies for the department in a timely manner so that productivity and efficiency is not compromised.
Communicate with vendors and secure adequate pricing for needed items.
Monitors and records all items being sent out and received for TJC regulatory requirements.
Identifies, evaluates, documents and enforces compliance with standards and regulations of infection control, CDC, OSHA, AMMI and TJC.
Assist with the daily operations and quality controls as needed as well as facilitate projects.
Handles the most complex issues.
Provides supervision, coaching, and/or mentoring to the team.
Leads multiple projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives.
Supervises staff and provides ongoing support to the department.

- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Graduate from an accredited Sterile Processing program or graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program

Current Licensure through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) and /or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or current Licensure through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
