Job Summary:
The Controller supports the organization and its leadership team with financial planning, analysis, and strategy across all business units. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and assist with overall day to day functions as well as prepare reporting that will outline key metrics that will showcase primary business results.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
Assists with the production of financial statements for the various business units, and will also assist with consolidated financial reporting.
Oversee financial variance analysis reports that measure key benchmarks within various business units, present performance outcomes and variances to senior leadership.
Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on same store sales comparisons across all business units by location on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Provide reporting that illustrates weekly and monthly trend analysis by business unit outlining key variances accompanied by commentary.
Prepare reporting that outlines the top ten and bottom ten online inventory items sold within applicable business units. Report results to senior leadership team.
Files monthly sales tax returns and quarterly property returns where applicable for various units across multiple states around the US
Oversee general ledger maintenance and manage end of month journal entry posting, thus assisting the end of month closing process in conjunction with CFO.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned by senior leadership.
Oversee accounts receivable reconciliations, attend review meetings via zoom, and prepare adjusting entries per review.
Assist CFO with end of year general ledger preparation, entries, segmenting statements by states for tax purposes, and closing the reporting year.
Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, as well as FASB updates.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
*Five to ten years or more of related experience required.
* Restaurant Industry preferred, but not necessary
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
