Job Function
Carry out assigned engineering calculations with little need for input and guidance from management engineering and design staff. Working independently requires familiarity with methods, design codes, specifications, and procedures. Review and check work of others as may be carried out by engineering and design staff.
Carry out field investigations and field advisory roles as assigned in consultation with other senior engineering and design staff.
Maintain current knowledge with industry design codes and standards.
Take part in maintenance of Standards and Specifications.
Take part in the maintenance of existing work practices and development of improved work methods for execution of mechanical design calculations.
Work with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Procurement to prepare Material Requisitions and provide technical review of quotations received.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Accountable to VP of Engineering for delivering agreed work product, within the agreed timeframe, in the established and agreed format.
Accountable to VP of Engineering for concentrated effort to become familiar with our work methods, procedures, and the full range of mechanical design calculations.
Accountable to Company for identifying areas of technical development [training and tools] needed.
JOB CONTEXT & CONTENT
Work may involve execution of Mechanical Studies on Projects for which employer is contracted to carry out detailed calculations that may then be directed toward evaluation of upgrades to achieve improved performance.
Work may involve execution of Process Design on Projects for which employer is contracted to design and/or supply and/or erect furnace equipment.
KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE
Basics of Mechanical Engineering
Ability to carry out unfamiliar work in a systematic way in order to identify areas of the work that require further understanding before proceeding.

Pay: $165,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
