The Estate Planning Paralegal will report to the Attorney/Owner.
Job Overview:
The Estate Planning Paralegal personally and professionally supports the vision and mission of the law firm. The Estate Planning Paralegal creates, manages, and stores all Estate Planning word processing for the firm, including firm correspondence, firm dictation by attorney or team members, drafting of Estate Planning documents (Trusts, Wills, Healthcare Powers of Attorney, Property Powers of Attorney) and all funding forms required to retitle client assets in accordance with attorney instructions as identified on client funding table.
The Estate Planning Paralegal works independently and collaborates with the lawyer and client services to foster a team spirit in cooperation with the law firm management. The Estate Planning Paralegal should be highly detailed oriented and organized with the ability to multi-task. All law firm employees must always maintain confidentiality with regard to clients, firm interest, and employees. The Estate Planning Paralegal may perform other duties as necessary to keep the production and administrative functions of the firm operating smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Input attorney notes into document generation software.
- Review Estate Planning Documents and make appropriate changes for proper language and formatting.
- Facilitate phone calls with clients to confirm and gather necessary information.
- Hold meetings with clients to review and sign Estate Planning and Funding documents.
- Draft funding forms to facilitate proper changes based on clients asset information and attorneys notes.
- Provide clients with funding instructions.
- Coordinate accounts changes with financial advisors and insurance agents.
- Filing deeds and tax certifications with Register of Deeds in NC.
- Coordinate deed drafting, signing and recording with out-of-state attorneys.
- Create file notes with updates on internal and external communications, matter progress, current status and next steps.
- Answer client questions regarding estate planning and funding practices.
- Schedule Client Work, Internal Meetings and Client Meetings on the firm calendars.
Qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High-School Diploma
Paralegal Certificate OR two-years’ experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Notary Public Certificate (preferred)
Familiar with Actionstep, HotDocs, NetDocuments (bonus)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
