SUMMARY (BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB)
Reviews, monitors, and corrects billing and collections issues with patient account representatives and superiors to ensure complete, accurate, and proper performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School degree or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Five years experience in hospital based billing. Prior supervisory experience preferred. ICD-10 knowledge preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient knowledge of healthcare billing. Outstanding organization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Special Training: Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to quickly learn the billing system to become proficient.
Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to change priorities when necessary to meet deadlines. Demonstrates good judgment as well as attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintains working knowledge of internal processes through regular meetings.

Uses all available tools to review and analyze aged trial balance with patient accounts representatives and vendors to ensure complete, accurate, and timely filing of claims.

Oversees billing functions as required.

Compiles data as required for specific reports and projects as needed by department.

Consistently reports any billing issues to manager of department.

Directs daily billing activities in absence of manager.

Acts as primary technical support and advice source to staff members as needed.

Works in conjunction with manager to set staff goals and monitor staff productivity.

Trains new and existing staff as required.

Adapts to changing departmental demands.

Evaluates existing workflow to determine measures for improving cash flow and reducing days in accounts receivable.

Meets with patient accounts representatives and to review billing concerns and improve productivity.

Provides significant input to personnel actions and staff performance evaluations.

Serves as a subject matter expert to the Patient Accounts leadership team.

Educates staff with contract changes and any software updates.

Evaluates, reviews and analyzes patient accounts to determine if the correct third party payments have been received and recorded in comparison to the expected payment calculated in contract management software.

Reviews and stays current with assigned work lists daily.

Performs other duties as assigned and adapts to changing departmental demands.
