Salary range between $45k - $65k
Work as a Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services (FDACS) Licensed Commercial Applicator. Controls aquatic plants, canal banks, weeds, right-of-way vegetation and exotic/invasive plant growth via a variety of applications or techniques. These techniques consist of the mixing of a variety of authorized herbicides and their application via airboats, chemical spray trucks, allterrain utility vehicles, outboard motor boats, and backpacks. Use of mechanically controlled devices such as mowers, chain saws, machetes, etc. may be used on an occasional basis. Performs all field and other related work required to service each of the company's customers by performing the following duties:
Coordinate daily schedule to ensure all services are completed on schedule.
- Plan daily field and client related work, provide detailed notes and service instructions to ensure the highest quality service is provided
- Diagnose and treat for algae, submersed and floating weeds, shoreline weeds, non-desirable buffer vegetation, and any other unwanted vegetation and water quality issues.
- Identification of invasive/nuisance plants and algae
- Determines the correct herbicide and method of application for treatment of noxious plants and aquatic vegetation.
- Mixes herbicides and chemicals in the proper proportions and strength for control of noxious plants and vegetation.
- Calculates desired application rates for herbicide treatments.
- Sprays weeds and other noxious water vegetation in lakes, ponds, ditches, canal banks, and right-of-way
- Prepares and maintains reports of spray activities and crew operations, maintains records of equipment, type and quantity of spray used.
- Diagnose and service fountains, aerators and all other related equipment maintenance.
- Service customer's ponds and lakes as required to provide superior quality and service in the fulfillment of all company contracts, service orders, and other related customer needs.
- Participate in water quality sampling and testing; perform bathymetry scans; fish stocking.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma along with active pursuit of a college degree in environmental science, biological science, ecology, forestry, natural resources or wildlife management.
- ***Preferred Candidates will have an A.S. or B.S. in an environmental science or related field ***
- Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services (FDACS) Commercial Applicator License in Aquatic Pest Control and Right Of Way Pest Control. Training provided on the job. Required to obtain within 90-days.
- Florida Driver’s License with clean driving record.
- Must be able to swim.
- Must be able to interact with public courteously.
- Posses a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Have a positive attitude.
- Capable of heavy lifting 50 pounds.
- Hike/walk on uneven terrain near the water with a backpack weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to work in different types of weather conditions.
- Be able to function in 90+ weather in high humidity while wearing safety equipment.
- Basic mechanical skills.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.29 per hour
