**Job Overview:**
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. This role requires a blend of medical knowledge, technical skills, and exceptional patient care.
**Responsibilities:**
- Perform preliminary eye function testing such as visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Prepare patients for examinations by dilating pupils, measuring intraocular pressure, and administering eye medications.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records including medical history, medications, and allergies.
- Educate patients on proper eye care techniques and post-operative instructions.
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and assist with front desk duties as needed.
**Qualifications:**
- Experience in a healthcare setting or ophthalmic practice is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in performing vital signs measurements.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician is a plus.
- Understanding of medical billing processes is beneficial.
